I'm totally amazed at the support that continues to come in as the Marathon is now merely 48 hours away.

It looks like this will be the hottest Marathon day this century. 90+ degrees. I read somewhere that in 1907 it got to 100 degrees. I can't imagine running in those Pilgram outfits.

We are already winning and now my work is to represent your caring and support on race day. It may be a heavy load but you are the people and purpose that I chose to carry.

Whatever the distance/whatever the load/we are in it to do something Epic... TOGETHER... and we will!

Things are Heating Up For Marathon Monday

Too bad we can't run at 6am because it looks like the temperature on Marathon Monday is going to be...

On the upside, if it were Sunday we'd have lightning (and that's no fun!) and if it were on Tuesday still HOT. Wednesday... rain.

Team Vision42K... My Best Man and Coach- Mike McNair

Yeah, the picture is small I know but so is his ego... his brains and heart however... UNBELIEVABLE. Mike and I grew up together since the 7th Grade, he was the best man at my wedding, and he is a damn fast and efficient runner and athlete. So for someone like me who is slow and inefficient I knew Mike was the Coach that could make this Epic Charity Run a success. He even came out to Natick and threw down at CFNE getting a taste of CrossFit. I told you the guy is fearless!

He's been a life-long supporter before I had supporters (no offense!) but without his help Vision42K would not be possible. Mike gives, he inspires, but most of all he dedicates his heart and soul to the causes and people he loves. Man did I luck out!

Team Vision42K... My Guides for an Epic Charity Run / Success

All my training, nutrition, and courage would be nothing without these amazing friends. What they all share is they can talk the talk and run the run... literally. The other commonality is they all believe in the indomitable spirit and doing good for others. By doing good for me and guiding/supporting Vision42K they are in fact doing GREAT for others.

My All-Star Lineup

Laurie Diamond- Super fast and super kind she is the rose amongst thorns and she'll be guiding me during the 20K-30K section. Massive cheers ensue!

Will Parizeau- Mr. Marathon/Hunnewell Dad he has more experience running than I do walking and he's a heck of a talker and all-around great guy. Look for me and Will at the finish. Will's got 30K-Finish.

George Maley- The only guide crazy enough to return to duty. George has successfully got me through 5Ks blindfolded. We are doing 4x that together on Monday. George has Start-20K.

Glen Magpiong- My secret weapon and Ace. Normally Glen can be found coaching hoops and supporting the Wellesley community in any way possible but every Sunday morning he'd join me for my long runs. He inspires. He is as strong as he is kind. They broke the mold with Glen... too bad!

 

Wheels for the Run

I'm putting a lot of trust into this run... myself, my guides (more about them soon!) and my shoes.

Between my buddy/Coach Mike in Boulder, CO and Alex at the Wellesley City Sports I was able to lock into a solid pair of Saucony Cortana running sneakers. Great from the first stride.

They rock so I can roll!

Boston Marathon Finish (unpainted)

 

After driving 13.1 miles into Boston from Wellesley (for those unfamiliar Wellesley is the half way point of the Boston Marathon). I had to take a look at what awaited me after so many months and miles of training. The Police Officer actually stopped traffic so I could take this photo and he promised the finish would be repainted and looking pretty come Marathon Monday.

Duly noted.

Why was I in Boston?? Silly, I'm an athlete in training right? You've been reading the blog right?

Answer: The great team at BeWellBoston getting me as supple as possible before the start of Vision42K... and post-marathon too!!
